Support for a Refugee Family

In response to the Mission Relief ministry of the Mennonite Central Committee Canada, the Mission Board has decided to provide financial support for an Afghan sister’s family, Rabia (whom our sister church Port Moody Pacific Grace Church is also supporting), to come to Canada as a refugees.

Rabia’s family are of the Hazara ethnicity, one of the minorities and persecuted groups in Afghanistan. They risked their lives by fleeing from Afghanistan to Pakistan, but without legal status, and lived an extremely difficult life without freedom, work or study opportunities, and fear of being sent back to Afghanistan. On the other hand, Rabia was able to study in Hong Kong and Canada because of a scholarship.
